First season · Garden Edition

Start small. Grow something.

You don’t need a perfect garden to begin. Give yourself a small space, a few things you love to eat, and permission to learn.

Make it manageable

Begin with a garden you can comfortably care for. That might be a few containers or a small bed. Pick a handful of crops you actually enjoy eating, and leave room to expand after you have a season behind you.

Get to know your light

Watch your space through the day before choosing plants. Many vegetables need at least six hours of direct sunlight. Match the light you have to the requirements of each crop, and think about how easy it will be to water.

Keep a few notes

Write down when you sow, transplant and harvest. Add a sentence about what worked or what surprised you. These little observations become your own garden guide over time. A calendar makes a good place to begin.
